PTFE Sliding Plate

When it comes to choosing PTFE sliding plate, you can select glass filled or 100% virgin polytetrafluoroethylene. The non-stick property and extremely low friction coefficient (ranging from 0.05 to 0.10) make PTFE the perfect material for sliding plates.

For extremely high-temperature applications, a PTFE sliding plate with graphite filler works well.

These properties reduce friction which could otherwise damage structures. Even when handling heavy pipes or equipment that can exert high friction or pressure points, Teflon slide-bearing plates offer the perfect alternative.

Even for high-heat applications, Teflon slide plate assembly performs exceptionally well due to superior thermal resistance. Additionally, with a wide temperature range, PTFE sliding plate is suitable for both cryogenic and high temperatures (-240 to 260°C).

Advantages of PTFE Sliding Plate

  • Bearings PTFE slide plates guarantee nearly frictionless motion due to the low coefficient of friction
  • PTFE plate is suitable for high axial loads
  • PTFE slide bearing performs exceptionally in high-temperature boilers
  • It makes shifting heavy equipment easier
  • PTFE sliding plate self-lubricating makes it suitable for handling extremely heavy loads moving at low speeds
  • The simple design of the PTFE sliding plate guarantees significant cost saving
  • Slide bearings in the PTFE plate are nearly maintenance free

Due to the functional and superior characteristics of PTFE slide bearing plates, there are slowly replacing expansion plates.

PTFE Sliding Plate Construction

Although there are many PTFE slide-bearing designs, the most common options have;

  • A 100% virgin or filled PTFE, which is about 2.5mm
  • Steel backing with about 3mm thick

Remember, the material thickness may be customized depending on application requirements. It will also depend on the load they can accommodate. Therefore, you may have:

  1. A stainless steel top sliding plate with a bottom sliding plate made from virgin/filled PTFE. Of course, they are specially bonded together.
  2. A sliding plate having virgin/reinforced PTFE bonded with steel plate. At the same time, you may have a bottom slide plate with virgin/reinforced PTFE bonded with steel plate

In each case, they may have different load capacities.

Remember, you can customize these PTFE sliding plates according to your unique specifications.
