Skived PTFE Film
Skiving is a versatile technique for producing ultra-thin PTFE films for more specialized applications. Skived PTFE films are made by thinning (skiving) polytetrafluoroethylene material. The result is a functional film with exceptional mechanical and physical properties.
The skived PTFE films are available in very thin measurements, between 0.2 and 1.0 mm.
Thinning Polytetrafluoroethylene to make skived PTFE films does not compromise excellent mechanical properties such as 59.1 MPa tensile strength for 0.05 (t).
Additionally, most skived PTFE films are made from virgin polytetrafluoroethylene material. Upon request, skived PTFE films may have embossed or etched on one side.
Depending on the skived polytetrafluoroethylene film application, it may have a self-adhesive backing. Most PTFE films have silicone adhesive.
Compared to extruded PTFE films, skived films are easy to unwind and guarantee better compatibility with most surfaces.
For better elongation properties, PTFE skived film does not have glass fiber. This is because the film has 100% virgin PTFE which offers superior physical characteristics.
Applications of Skived PTFE Film
Insulating electrical wires and cable wrapping –is due to superior electrical insulation and heat resistance properties
Anti-strophic conductive film (ACF) – plays an integral role when pressure bonding ACF due to its superior thermal properties and a wide temperature range from -100℃ to 260℃.
Automatic door sliding – it has a low friction coefficient for seamless sliding without causing damage. Besides, it has superior non-stick characteristics.
Food wrapping applications – skived Teflon film is approved by the FDA to be safe
Skived PTFE film tape – a popular product of skived films due to high-performance characteristics.
Lining chemical pipes and containers – skived polytetrafluoroethylene films are chemically inert.
Anti-stick lining – it guarantees excellent non-stick properties
Forms Skived PTFE Films Exists
Skiving PTFE to make films leaves you with many options for shipping and packaging such as;
- Skived PTFE film rolls – available as a continuous roll or cut to size
- Skived PTFE films sheets – available as large sheets or cut to size
- Skived PTFE film tapes – uniquely designed to conform with most surfaces
