Extruded PTFE Rod
Through PTFE ram extrusion or PTFE paste extrusion processes, you can make a wide range of extruded PTFE rods with varying lengths and diameters. Extrusion is a perfect alternative to compression molding PTFE rods, allowing you to process virgin PTFE, chemically modified PTFE, or filled PTFE.
Usually, the virgin PTFE extruded rods have superior heat resistance, low friction coefficient, and best chemical resistance alongside other physical properties. On the other hand, filled PTFE extruded rods have improved mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
Extruding PTFE rods is such a controlled process that it must conform to the ASTM D1710-15(2021). This ensures all extruded PTFE rods have uniform properties throughout the entire cross-section.
Applications of PTFE Extruded Rods
In most cases, extruded PTFE rods are machining stock. Making certain parts from extruded PTFE rods is cost-effective. Among the key components include;
- Slide block
- Gasket
- Seals
- Rollers
Additionally, making parts from extruded PTFE rods reduces excessive material wastage.
