Expanded PTFE Gasket
If you are looking for polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets for rough or irregular surfaces, the expanded PTFE gaskets offer a perfect solution. At times, we refer to these gaskets as EPTFE gaskets.
Although the EPTFE gasket shares some similarities with the virgin PTFE gasket, the difference comes in the material structure. The Expanded PTFE gasket material has a fibrillated or micro-porous structure.
Unlike the gaskets made from the standard virgin Teflon, Expanded PTFE gaskets are flexible and soft. With this property, the EPTFE perfectly conforms to nearly all irregular mating surfaces.
By expanding virgin polytetrafluoroethylene, you get an expanded PTFE gasket sheet for and sealing design. Furthermore, by laminating EPTFE, you get exceptional performance with chemically inert, and high-temperature performance PTFE gaskets for low-load torque applications.
PTFE Expanded Basket Uses
These gaskets are suitable for low-load torque applications, especially where the surfaces are uneven.
Many industries such as distilleries, marine, chemical, pharmaceutical, or power generation use EPTFE gaskets. These gaskets work as:
- Sealers
- Vibration absorbers
- Packing materials, etc.
