Adhesive Teflon Sheet
Adhesive Teflon sheets also called adhesive PTFE sheets, mostly have silicone adhesive on one side. The silicone adhesive is usually pressure sensitive.
Mostly, the adhesive Teflon sheets have an easy-to-remove release paper.
Although Teflon sheets remain some of the most difficult materials to bond, the modified adhesive Teflon tapes remain popular for high-temperature applications.
Etching Teflon sheets roughens the surface thereby improving adhesion properties. Therefore, whether polytetrafluoroethylene is inherently slippery with non-stick properties, it is still functional for most applications.
For example, you will find adhesive-backed Teflon rolls. Alternatively, you may consider adhesive-backed Teflon tapes.
Adhesive Teflon Sheet Uses
- High-temperature and low-temperature applications– working temperature ranging from -240 to 260°C.
- Electrical insulation– this is due to the superior dielectric strength with less than 5% thermal expansion.
- Chemical processing industries– adhesive Teflon sheets are highly resistant to chemicals and abrasion
- Heater plates– you should consider self-adhesive Teflon. This is due to non-stick properties and high resistance to heat.
- Rollers in drying machines– the non-stick property, abrasion resistance, heat resistant property, and chemical resistance make the Teflon sheet perfect for this application.
Other applications of Teflon sheets with silicone adhesive include connectors, skidways, linings, etc.
Ideally, adhesive PTFE sheets are aging-resistant and non-consumable. Additionally, they offer better UV and infrared resistance.
For applications requiring high mechanical strength, you may go for filled PTFE sheets with adhesive.
A good example is the adhesive Teflon sheet with fiberglass, which performs better in high-temperature applications. Additionally, it is dimensionally stable and prevents possible cold flow in the adhesive Teflon sheet.
When it comes to considering the adhesive PTFE manufacturing process, there are two common options:
- Skived Teflon sheets with self-adhesive silicone
- Molded Teflonsheets with adhesive
