What is PFA Welding Rod
PFA is a fully fluorinated thermoplastic: it melts, flows and re-solidifies, which is the whole reason a filler rod can become part of the wall it joins. The PFA welding rod and the tape are made from the same polymer family HANSA supplies as PFA sheet and PFA tubing, unfilled and in the natural translucent state, so a bubble or a particle shows up against the light instead of hiding under a pigment.
A fluoropolymer weld is judged on two things at once: whether the seam holds the medium, and whether it holds it at the same cleanliness as the plate around it. Those pull in different directions. A filler that flows a little easier fills a groove faster, and a filler that matches the parent exactly blends at the seam line. Choosing between them is a welding decision, not a catalogue decision, and it is the part HANSA helps you settle before the drum is packed.
Types of PFA Welding Rod From HANSA
Filling a V-groove is the job: a pfa welding rod melts into the bead rather than sitting on it. HANSA extrudes five diameters unfilled and translucent, so voids show.
The cap pass lies over the bead. HANSA extrudes pfa welding tape in six widths, 7.5 to 17 mm, so your cover pass follows the groove.
Root passes need a section that reaches the groove bottom. A pfa triangle welding rod does it in one run, in the same PFA as your sheet; HANSA supplies both.
A joint is only as clean as its filler. HANSA extrudes the PFA welding rod and tape from 100% virgin resin, the same input as the sheet you are joining.
