Why You Need Plastic Rods
Many plastics can replace metal in certain applications. Compared with metal, plastic materials are lighter, corrosion-resistant, and do not rust. Some high-performance plastics even offer extremely high hardness and strength.
Because of these advantages, plastic rods are increasingly used in industries such as chemical processing, machinery, medical equipment, and food processing. Different industries require different properties, so the type of plastic selected will vary depending on the application.
Fluoroplastics have excellent chemical inertness and can resist strong acids and alkalis. They are widely used in industrial applications such as pipe linings and reactor vessel linings.
PI has a continuous service temperature of up to 300 °C, followed by PTFE (260 °C). These materials are commonly used in aerospace, petrochemical, and other high-temperature environments.
UHMW-PE has an extremely high molecular weight, PTFE has a very low friction coefficient, PA (Nylon) offers good self-lubrication, and PEEK provides high strength. These materials are often used to manufacture gears, bearings, and sliding components for high-load applications.
PTFE has one of the lowest friction coefficients (μ ≈ 0.04) among solid materials. It is widely used for sliding parts, liners, and precision mechanical components.
Fluoroplastics and high-performance plastics offer strong dielectric strength and electrical insulation, including PI, PTFE, PEEK, and PFA, making them suitable for high-temperature and high-voltage environments.
