What is the typical lead time for custom PEEK parts?

Prototypes are typically machined within 5–7 working days after drawing confirmation. Production orders usually run 10–15 working days depending on quantity and complexity. For standard-configuration PEEK parts held in stock, we can ship within 7 days. Urgent projects can be prioritized — just tell us your deadline.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

There is no MOQ for prototype PEEK parts — we regularly make single test pieces. For production quantities, the MOQ is negotiable and typically starts at 10–100 pieces depending on part size and machining time. New projects can start small.

Can you machine PEEK parts from my drawing or sample?

Yes. We machine PEEK parts from 2D drawings, 3D models (STEP, IGES, STL) and PDF prints, and we can also work from physical samples through our reverse-engineering service. Our engineers review the design, suggest DFM improvements and confirm tolerances before production starts.

What tolerance can you hold on PEEK machined parts?

Our standard machining tolerance is ±0.05 mm, with selected critical features held down to ±0.01 mm depending on part geometry. Because PEEK has a higher thermal expansion coefficient than metal, we take operating temperature into account when setting tolerances — something many shops overlook.

Which PEEK grade should I choose: unfilled, glass-filled or carbon-filled?

Unfilled PEEK offers the best toughness and elongation and is the standard for FDA food-contact and medical applications. Glass-fiber reinforced PEEK adds stiffness and dimensional stability for structural parts. Carbon-fiber reinforced PEEK gives the highest strength, lowest wear and static-dissipative properties for sliding or semiconductor parts. Is PEEK FDA approved for food contact and medical use?

Unfilled PEEK grades comply with FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.2415 for repeated food-contact use. For medical devices, medical-grade PEEK parts are available with biocompatibility testing documentation as required by your application. Certificates are supplied with the order.

PEEK vs PTFE — what's the difference and which one do I need?

Both are high-performance plastics, but they serve different roles. PEEK is far stronger, harder and stiffer, handles higher loads and temperatures, and resists creep — ideal for structural, load-bearing and precision parts. PTFE offers very low friction and is cheaper, but it is soft and deforms under load. If your part carries load or needs tight tolerances, choose PEEK; for low-friction linings and seals without load, PTFE sheets and parts are a cost-effective option. Do you offer injection molding for PEEK parts, or only machining?

CNC machining is our core process for PEEK parts and covers most custom orders, including prototypes, low volumes and tight tolerances. For higher volumes, molding can be a cost-effective alternative — tell us your annual quantity and part geometry, and we will recommend the most economical process.
