PTFE Molded Tube
PTFE molded tubes are chemically inert, safe, and have a wide working temperature ranging between -400 and +550°F. Furthermore, the molded PTFE tubes have a low friction coefficient and superior thermal resistance with high breakdown voltage.
This type of PTFE tubing is produced through a compression molding process. Compression molding works for PTFE pipes since the material has high melting point and molecular weight.
Your Expert PTFE Molded Tube Manufacturer in China
Compression molding PTFE tubes involves subjecting polytetrafluoroethylene powder to compressive forces under ambient temperature. This produces performed PTFE molded tubes, which are then sintered to make the tubing.
Molding PTFE tubing is a cost-effective process, which also reduces waste. The PTFE molded tube thickness may vary from 2mm to 6mm. At the same time, the compression-molded PTFE tube diameters can be as high as 300mm.
Compression molding tube is a versatile process suitable for any polytetrafluoroethylene grade. You can make PTFE tubing using virgin, modified, mechanical grade, or filled PTFE material
Key Features of PTFE Molded Tube

Exhibits corrosion resistance capable of withstanding aggressive agents and the majority of chemical media (pH 0-14).

Demonstrates favorable compressive and creep resistance at ambient temperatures, though may soften under elevated temperatures, suitable for low-stress applications.

Coefficient of friction (COF) as low as 0.04, featuring a smooth surface with self-lubricating properties that eliminate the need for external lubricants.
Operational range spans from -200°C to +260°C for sustained service, with short-term exposure tolerance up to 300°C.
PTFE Molded Tube Applications
You can use molded PTFE tubes as the end product or process it further to make other parts. Some common applications include;
- Tubes in machines such as LSR injection molding, Softgel encapsulation machines, etc.
- Spaghetti tubes – these are mainly flexible and thin PTFE molded tubes in medical, automotive, and chemical industries.
- PTFE hoses – are suitable for high-pressure applications due to the thick wall.
- PTFE sleeve – common applications include rings, load bearings, seals, gaskets, etc.

Production Process for PTFE Tubes As Following Steps

Select PTFE resin that meets purity requirements. Pre-treat the resin to remove any surface impurities, ensuring the final product’s purity and appearance aren’t affected.

Choose a mold size that matches customer specifications. Clean the mold surface thoroughly and apply a specialized release agent to prevent sticking.

At room temperature, fill the mold with the pre-treated PTFE powder. Use a hydraulic press to compress the powder, forming a dense, tube-shaped preform.

Remove the cold-pressed preform from the mold and place it in a sintering oven. Under high heat, the PTFE particles melt and fuse together, creating a solid, continuous structure.

Cut the sintered tubes according to the required specifications. Finally, perform quality inspection to ensure the product meets all standards.
